The expressive view of the French capital, which could be seen from the roof of the observatory in Medon, attracted many artists. Annenkov also worked in those suburbs of Paris. Several of his works are known; among them, the brightest is a canvas with a night landscape. The artist did not neglect the nearest buildings and structures for the sake of the capital – a fence in the foreground, at the right is an inexpressive building. Another part of the picture is occupied by the crown of a tree, but Paris with its invariable dominant – the creation of Eiffel – is recognizable and a bit fabulous. It is so due to the moonlight, transmitted by the artist in many shades of blue.
