Untitled Fire painting, (F 101)

author

Yves Klein

description

Mediums: burned paper mounted on cardboard.
Location: Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien (Austria).

Klein’s first pyrotechnic work, “Bengal Lights: A One-Minute Painting”, was essentially a performance: the author burned a picture painted in an “international blue”. In his subsequent creations, he did not intend to demonstrate how the material is transformed into the non-material. On the contrary, they became concrete and sometimes even symbolic works. To some of his fiery paintings, the artist added his blue colour, depicting the bodies. This creation is close to Klein’s cosmogonies in terms of the subject.
