Otto Tschumi, who began his artistic career as a Cubist, builds a composition according to all the rules of this style in the painting. The cityscape is conveyed by a variety of irregular geometric shapes. A thunderous night sky is visible above the houses, and multidirectional rays transmit bright flashes of lightning. The picture does not have a background, since the classic cubists at that time made it a part of the plot. One feature of his early work is interesting: constructing volumes, the artist chose a reference point located in the very center of the painting. This is a brightly lit window that immediately attracts the attention of the viewer.
