description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Moravian Gallery Brno (Czech Republic).

About the painting:

In this painting, the artist used the techniques of Expressionism, Cubism and Futurism, which he later refused from. The urban landscape, just like the painting “Doors” of the same year and a number of bouquets, was painted with a rich palette, not typical for the mature period of his art. The artist used color contrasts, expressive outlines of objects, emphasized by thick black lines. These techniques give the viewer strong emotions. In the painting “The train”, the author cared neither for the plausibility of what he depicted nor for the observance of perspective or scale.
