The Permanent Adventure

author

Felix Labisse

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: private collection.

Creating illustrations for “Natural History”, the artist became interested in the topic and created pretty mysterious paintings during 2-3 years, in which women, usually naked, were depicted with changed heads. The character of this picture has a hypertrophied big head of the praying mantis. Each of her hands is covered with some kind of liquid flowing down in streams and drops, looking like a glove. At this period, Labisse was obsessed with the image of red and green in combination with female forms. The right hand of the model is green, while the left one is red, like blood.
