The field of Mars, the Red Tower

author

Robert Delaunay

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Dimensions: 169 x 86 сm.
Location: Art Institute, Chicago, USA.

This is one of the most famous paintings by the artist. The Eiffel Tower was his favorite subject. As always, in Delaunay’s work it appears in an unusual twisted form. The master mostly depicted the tower in bright red colors. It seems that it is floating in the air, perhaps because of the unusual angle.
