The end of winter. Noon

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow (Russia).

From the mid-1920s, the master preferred “clean” landscapes, introducing some of the fashionable innovations of that time, but remained true to his style. Characters appear in his paintings almost always – in this picture, those are skiing teenagers. In front of the viewer, there is a suburban area of Russia. The notorious Russian birches, loose snow, a simple house, a log of wood and walking hens are illuminated by the bright rays of spring (the picture was painted on April 11). The whole composition gives the impression of peace, habitability and warmth. It subtly conveys that transition from one season to the next, which, although it takes place every year, always sounds in a new way.
