description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Abanca Art Collection (Coruna, Spain).

Briefly about the painting:

The dragon tree is one of the symbols of the artist’s homeland – the Canary Islands, and often appears in the works of Oscar Dominguez. Its origin is shrouded in legends and secrets, which attracted the attention of the surrealist artist, as well as the unusual crown of this tree and its red juice, resembling blood. Next to the trunk, the painter depicted a piano and a woman whose upper body merges with the tree. The image of a girl and a musical instrument appears in several works of the author of this period and is associated with his love relationship with talented Polish pianist Romana Damski.
