The comet

author

Wassily Kandinsky

description

Mediums: red paper, gouache, golden bronze.
Location: Munich, Germany. The Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus.

This painting is called the “night fantasy” of the artist, linking it with the symbolic image of the night, and identifying this time of day with the territory on which the mysterious world powers of fate reign. The work can be interpreted as one of Kandisnky’s experiences. He ceased to physically “feel” the material world, fully devoting and immersing himself in the creative process.

Since childhood, the author had been interested in legends and medieval mysteries. Life in Munich was connected to attempts made to find the spiritual Grail, where the introduction to the world of art took place.
