The Beach at Heist

author

Georges Lemmen

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: Museum d’Orsay, Paris, France.

When the artist joined “the society of Les XX”, he met pointillist Theo van Rysselberghe. Lemmen became interested in “the theory of color separation” of Rysselberghe. This is one of the pictures of that period. Here is the resort city of Flanders – Heist. Bright and gloomy colors against the background of a lonely sail evoke the sensation of an approaching storm.
