1991
Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The National Museum of Art, Riga (Latvia).
Briefly about the painting:
The surrealistic canvas was inspired by fairy tales, illustrations for which Maija Tabaka created in large numbers. The images, although realistic, are associated with folk popular art. The guy in the foreground, like Lel, is fabulously handsome, and the outfits of the pompous ladies are, at least from the century before last. The work, bright in color solutions, includes a wonderful landscape under the sky with snow-white clouds; the colorful mirror of the pond attracts the main attention of the viewer. A mysterious figure in long brocade robes walks along it, without stirring up the surface, with raised hands.
