Suspended Ball

author

Alberto Giacometti

description

Mediums: plaster, metal.
Location: The Kunstmuseum Basel (Switzerland).

This famous moving surreal construction made a strong impression on Salvador Dali and Andre Breton. Surprisingly, the sculptor made up an erotic plot using only two figures and a metal frame. If you make the spherical volume with an unequivocal notch swing on the thread, it will touch the sickle-shaped static object located below. The work, according to art critics, is quite aggressive because it gives the viewer keen tactile sensations. A copy of this work is in the collection of the Tate Gallery (London).
