Ilya Chashnik, fascinated by the applied use of Suprematist compositions, created a whole series of ornaments. The decorative effect in this work is achieved due to the rhythmic repetition – regular gray circles alternate with an exquisite set of geometric elements representing one red-black complex but integral figure. The ornament is dynamic due to the small lines, which “fly away” from the rectangular elements of the composition. Chashnikov’s ornaments on rounded porcelain products looked very impressive and certainly modern.
