Suprematic composition

author

Jean Pougny

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (Netherlands).

Briefly about the painting:

In the history of fine art, Pougny is valuable in two ways: as a destroyer of traditional art and as a representative of the French school of painting. Experts consider the “Russian” period to be the most interesting when the artist stood at the forefront of new types of modern art, including Suprematism. This composition on a blue background is absolutely pointless, but has not just flat geometric shapes, but with elements of volume and even shadow. Flying like a sky in weightlessness forms do not interfere with self-sufficiency – they do not touch each other, even when visually partially overlap.
