This painting became a kind of the artist’s response to the hungry times of rations. Embodying his original system of constructing a picturesque still life, the artist emphasized the self-sufficiency of each of the few objects. Having abandoned futurism, he showed absolute statics, since the main thing for the author was not optical vision, but knowledge of the essence of the subject. It was not by chance that he refused chiaroscuro and the air environment and thus brought things as close to the viewer as possible. The still life built according to the rules of analytical art is fully endowed with social and philosophical content.
