1919
Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The State Russian Museum St. Petersburg (Russia).
Briefly about the painting:
The laconic still life reflects the favorite theme of its author, who was a son of famous musicians. In this painting, the author solves the problem of color combinations – dividing the canvas into two unequal parts, colors the smaller one with local blue, leaving the second one, ocher, as a single object. The bright red violin stands out on the wall and forms contre-jour with the green geometric figure extending beyond the painting. A subtle geometric ornament on a green element looks unexpected and enlivening the composition.
