Suprematist composition

author

Vytautas Kairiūkštis

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Vilnius Art Museum (Lithuania).

Briefly about the painting:

One of the few purely Suprematist abstract paintings by the Lithuanian artist was depicted in revolutionary for him colors – deep black and non-uniform background, red rounded rather large figure in the foreground in the form of an inverted comma. The blue, as if flying away square, greenish and white-gray elements support common color solutions. All the forms are dynamic, supporting the theory of the painting of the cosmos. It was the intelligence and innovativeness of the experiments of Kairiūkštis that had a great influence on the development of modern art in Lithuania.
