Briefly about the painting:
The self-portrait created in the style of figurative cubism, hints that its author was a son of a carpenter and was much involved in construction works. Apart from the saw, there are woods and curls of cuttings, and the background is associated with built houses. The lit nose in the center of the composition determines the author’s profile, and his full face is determined by a series of white teeth. The artist’s friend Malewicz created a painting titled “The Advanced Portrait of a Builder” with the explanatory subtitle “The Portrait of Kliun”, in which he used similar images.
