Self-Portrait ‘The Frame’

author

Frida Kahlo

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Dimensions: 28,5 x 20,7 сm.
Location: The Musée National d’Art Moderne de Paris (France).

In art history, the composition of this painting is considered to be one of the most harmonious and at the same time original works by Frida Kahlo – it was the first picture by the artist from Mexico acquired by the Louvre during a successful exhibition in Paris. The beauty of the mestizo woman is attractive; her calm face with a thoughtfully deep gaze of beautiful eyes and the line that frames it, a pattern of decorative and fabulous flowers, large birds. Despite the various colour scheme, the picture is not overloaded with details.
