Sandy beach

author

Paul Signac

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Dimensions: 65 × 81 сm.
Location: State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin, Moscow, Russia.

The artist depicted the beach in Saint-Briac (France). Improving neoimpressionist techniques, Signac created a series of seascapes. He was inspired by the summer nature of the village of Saint-Briac-sur-Mer. The romantic and sunny painting consists of many small point brushstrokes. It should be looked at only from a certain distance. Signac accurately conveyed the atmosphere of solitude, the effects of the light reflected on the surface of the sea, and the texture of the sand.
