description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The City Museum of Art (The Hague, Netherlands).

The plot of the composition is a crowd of rebellious people depicted in bright colours, as opposed to the blue sleeping city. Their energy is like an explosion. It is so strong and swift that it turns the surrounding buildings and streets into an unnatural position, changing the whole perspective of the canvas. Repeating sharp red arrows penetrate the plane of the painting, they indicate the direction of movement and look like waves of loud sound, which is ahead of the movement of people. Due to its exceptional dynamics and emotional expressiveness, the canvas has become a classic example of futuristic painting.
