author

Leonor Fini

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Gallery CFM of N. Zuckerman, Paris (France).

Much has been written about the picture, but most of the reviews were wrong interpretations of the plot stemming from the author’s intention. This is, actually, a self-portrait. Each doll refers to certain incarnation of Leonor herself. The viewer sees her in the shape of “Mother Earth” – very few people knew such Fini, but the people who fell into her circle were amazed by her disinterestedness and generosity. Intelligence and passionate sexuality, curiosity and intolerance are visualized on the canvas. The bandaged doll refers to Lenore’s childhood when her mother dressed her like a boy, in order to prevent the kidnapping of the child by her Argentinian father. None of the works Lenore was not so autobiographical and so original in the embodiment of the idea.
