Skissernas Museum – Museum of Artistic Process and Public Art, Lund (Sweden).

Tempera, canvas.

The painting at the Aviation Palace in Paris is part of a series that Delaunay and her team of artists made for the International Exhibition of Art and Technology. The order marked the return of the artist to painting, attracted considerable attention to her, and was financially profitable for her. This large picture almost eight and a half meters long and three and a half meters high is “equipped” with a three-blade screw, fixed by a number of circles and various coloured stripes. Around the screw are different parts of the mechanisms, metal discs, wires of bright colours. Everything is spectacularly located on a background consisting of blue circles – bright or dim. The artist also created two works dedicated to the railways for the pavilion.
