After he was excluded from the Union of Artists, associated with the artist’s open performance in defense of Filonov’s art, Tsybasov began his career as a production designer at the Leningrad film studio. One of his first works was the painting “For the Soviet Homeland”, in which the main role of Toivo Antikainen was played by actor Oleg Zhakov. It was in this role that the artist portrayed Zhakov, placing him in a stage costume against the backdrop of the Karelian winter landscape. The portrait shows the characteristic features of the artist’s painting style – his attention to small details and desire to express his attitude to the depicted person.
