Portrait of Army General I. D. Chernyakhovsky

author

Yevgeny Vuchetich

description

Mediums: brass.
Location: The State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow (Russia).

Front-line man Yevgeny Vuchetich devoted many works to the glorification and military feat of people and particular heroes. The romantic image of the legendary general, twice Hero, was created as a ceremonial, but not static. The dynamics of the whole composition was achieved by a restless silhouette with a commanding turn of the head and a special inspiration in the look. Chernyakhovsky is depicted with all his awards, in a ceremonial tunic, but a combat rush, as if giving a command. The solemnly decorated lush drapery creates an organic transition to the marble foot.
