Porcelain and flowers

author

Aleksandr Golovin

description

Mediums: plywood, tempera, pastel.
Location: State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow (Russia).

The work might be not the most harmonious due to the overload of details, but certainly very cheerful and elegant. It seems that the artist plucked the brightest and most different flowers in the garden, gathered all the most festive china, found the most refined fabrics and combined them all in one picture. The viewer can examine each of its separate corners, observing a fanciful large vase with stucco moulding and gilding, a cobalt teapot with popular prints and the splendour of lush roses. Each item and paint give a feeling of a festival.
