1938 - 1939
Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The National Art Gallery, Athens (Greece).
The work is typical for the style and theme of the author: the Muse is presented in an ancient Greek costume with a scroll of papyrus instead of a head. She passes her violin (a divine gift) to the beginning poet – that is why he still does not have a head. Most symbols are easy to understand: a triangle on the wall is the logic and geometry of speech in poetry, and the living fish at her feet are its trepidation. Outside of this scenery (the entire allegorical scene unfolds on high stages), the author realistically depicted a beach and two peacefully talking people – a man in a bathing suit and a lady in an elaborate Parisian outfit.
