Plasticine

Jeff Koons

description

Mediums: painted aluminium.
Location: private collection.

The artist took about 20 years to create this three-meter sculpture. He made it completely from aluminium, carefully reproducing the structure of plasticine, its softness and plasticity. The viewer who looks at this work immediately has associations with childhood and simple but dear to his heart entertainment. According to the artist himself, the eldest son inspired him to create the sculpture; in childhood, the boy proudly showed his sculptures from plasticine to his father. Looking at the child’s creativity, the artist thought that the value of a work of art is not an objective quantity but depends only on what meaning the author and the viewer put into it.
