description

Mediums: paint, wood, sand, relief, collage of photos.
Location: private collection (the USA).

This is one of the experiments of the innovative artist; it combines landscape painting, photography and relief. The artist’s minimalism is fully seen in his two-part compositional work: the familiar sea, sky and sandy shore are depicted in a form of geometric figures corresponding in colour. In this concise conditional landscape, viewers also find nude figures of sunbathing women that are characteristic of the beach. Such a mix is very original for art limited by the framework of socialist realism and is the avant-garde artist’s ironic response to the motto “under the sun of the Stalin’s constitution”. The wives of Kharkiv artists were models for the photos. The colour scale corresponds to a light morning mood and evening fatigue.
