Naples Synthesis

author

Enrico Prampolini

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Museum of Modern Art (New York, the USA).

From the 1920s, Enrico Prampolini spent his summer holidays in Naples and painted on the picturesque island of Capri, which was nearby. The artist expressed his impressions of visiting the city in his painting “Synthesis of Naples”, which got its name because the author planned to depict not just the look of the city, but to express its features, individual features and character. Using bluish-pink shades to achieve his goal, Prampolini reliably conveyed the sea freshness and bliss of half-naked human bodies on a sun-drenched beach.
