Multiplication of arches

author

Raymond Georges Yves Tanguy

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Museum of Modern Art, New York (the USA).

The last work of the artist, which he created shortly before his death. We see a flat plain stretching into the distance, filled with small objects similar to pebbles or shells. Unlike the artist’s early works, which are almost empty spaces with several small objects, this work is filled with a large number of elements. Divided into sections, multi-coloured pebbles resemble a noisy city, in which, despite the density of the population, one can feel the alienation and inner loneliness of the human soul.
