1946
Location: The central square in Vyazma (Russia).
The sculptor worked on this composition together with architect J. Belopolsky. The deed of the deceased commander inspired him to create an emotional plot, when Efremov guides the fighters with an energetic gesture, straightening, despite the wound, to his full height. A soldier supporting him fiercely shoots back, a grenade thrower turned around to perform a sharp throw. The figure of a wounded reclining officer, ready to shoot the enemy, is also expressive. The monument conveying the atmosphere of fierce and tragic battle in the ring of the enemy reveals the unbending resistance of those who defend their land.
