description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: private collection.

The theme of migration was familiar to the artist that was born in Switzerland, studied in Italy, lived in France and settled down in America. The viewer can see the half-face of the people wandering in the desert – they go along the low horizon line under a blue but inhospitable sky. The dense multi-figured group occupies the entire center of the painting – people seem to be afraid to tear themselves apart. The viewer may see the belongings they carry, the wind that waves their clothes, but cannot see their faces. The overall blue-gray and green-brown gamma adds a sense of melancholy.
