Meeting of Spice Girls and Elvis

author

description

Private collection.

Canvas, oil.

This is the author’s amusing fantasy about a meeting between the popular pop group Spice Girls and the Rock and Roll King Elvis Presley – idols of different generations and different countries. The famous musician poses in front of the cameras, enjoying the company of pretty half-naked girls. At the same time, the bus in the background seems to be waiting for them and is ready to take them to a fun party. The work belongs to the series “World Tour of Marcel Duchamp”, and the viewer recognizes the face of the famous artist sitting in the bus and watching the scene taking place on the street. Peter Blake created the works from this series to pay tribute to the talented artist-experimenter and to show how enormous was the influence his original approaches and finds had on contemporary art.
