The artist for some time was influenced by the work of Paul Cezanne. He created the painting “The Little Peasant”, most likely, being impressed by Cezanne’s portraits of villagers. In the same year, Modigliani painted one more portrait – “A Young Student”, which was very similar to this one. However, that one was without a hat.
