1930
Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: the Santos Torroella Collection (Spain).
Briefly about the painting:
The square-shaped canvas is one of the few still-lifes of the young artist. The fact that the composition is placed in a far corner, as well as its content (spring flowers and a skull), tells about the difficult situation, which she came into living far from progressive art communities. The artist used a palette characteristic of this early period — brick-brown hues prevail so much that even the leaves and flowers, like the white tablecloth, change their fresh color to ocher-rust.
