Leaf Children

author

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Museum of Modern Art, New York (the USA).

The artist created several paintings that are similar in plot and color solutions. In them, children are autumn leaves ready to fly away from almost bare branches. It seems that the fragility of the thin multi-faceted living leaf cannot hold the tangibly dense and realisticly drawn heads. However, the leaf if large enough and can carry a child like on the wings. There is just one mystery – those children fly away like dry leaves, or play with fall foliage. The artist prepared many sketches for this painting. All of them are presented in various museums of the world.
