Landscape (The entry of spheres)

author

Mikhail Matyushin

description

Mediums: paper, watercolor.
Location: The Museum of Organic Culture, Kolomna (Russia).

About the painting: Matyushin believed that it was necessary to develop a technique by extended viewing, since a person lacks two eyes and body flexibility. Moreover, as a naturally gifted musician, he worked with the interconnection between the color and sound rhythm. According to his theory tested and accepted by his followers, it turned out that low tones were associated with warm and dark colors, while high tones were associated with light and cold hues. So, the artist did not intend to transfer the real image into this painting. He influenced the viewer’s senses in a new creative way, so that he received a new vision in the holistic sense of space and time.
