author

Aleksei Morgunov

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: the Karakalpak State Museum of Art named after I.V. Savitsky (Russia).

This painting can be called an example of the artist’s post-impressionist painting – he used characteristic clear contours outlined by a thick line to depict a recognizable area and architecture. However, the large planes of the conventional forms of the building, wood, paths are not painted locally in the same colour – the author makes sweeping strokes, using both close shades of the gamut and slightly contrasting ones. As a result, Morgunov managed to present a deeper landscape and architectural motif that expressively enlivens the sky glowing on the horizon.
