description

Mediums: oil, plywood.
Location: The Museum of Modern Art of Trento and Rovereto (Italy).

The artist was interested in the kamikaze theme in 1969 and developed it in several of his canvases. The Japanese suicide pilot, causing fear and at the same time respect for his strength of mind, is depicted separately from the aircraft. He seems to be isolated in some black cocoon, floating in the sky without any external support. At the same time, his face and posture express his firm determination, while the ominous red smoke enveloping the pilot resembles blood.
