Invisibility

author

Raymond Georges Yves Tanguy

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Tate Modern Gallery (London, the UK).

After the artist moved to the United States, the style of his painting underwent some changes. As Tanguy himself said, America gave him more space and freedom, which was reflected in his works. In addition to a broader aerial perspective, many paintings have more mechanized parts inspired by the architecture of New York with its stunning skyscrapers. The name “Invisibility” is associated with the theme of the other world that Surrealists preferred; it exists in parallel with the real and, invisible to ordinary people, lives by its laws.
