Magna, canvas.
This scene from the comic is depicted by the author in his manner using bold black contours and only three colours: yellow, blue and red. Lichtenstein transmitted the speed with which the car was traveling using dashed lines parallel to the plane of the canvas. Despite the apparent simplicity of the plot, the viewer can easily feel the emotional atmosphere inside the cabin. The woman’s serious face and the man’s look from underneath speak of tension between them; the absence of “clouds” with the text characteristic of the artist’s paintings creates an atmosphere of terrifying silence.
