This surrealistic canvas created in the Prague period combines portrait and landscape genres. The composition includes rounded mountain formations and sharp fragments of a rock with an inscribed face that stand out separately on the background of a high cloudy sky. The philosophical nature of the work is emphasized by the presence of esoteric elements, which the author of the painting highlighted with the help of colour solutions – an effective combination of bright red, white and deep black colours. Two uneven thick lines succinctly convey the thought of a man chained into a block.
