description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: Guggenheim Museum, New York (the USA).

Music can become a force that will decisively take a person off the earth – such is the simple idea of the canvas, understandable to the viewer. Another thing is its surreal embodiment through an inharmonious colour scheme. It is possible that it was the unusual colour of the violinist’s clothes that made the face of the black musician green. In addition, he sits in an invisible chair with a single leg, which could well be interpreted as a pipe at home. The picture has a lot of additional storylines: someone flies in the clouds in the background, someone moves with a raised object, like a spade or cotton candy, a dog listening to the violin has grown above the house below. Together, the characters make the canvas monumental.
