description

Mediums: wood, oil, pencil.
Location: The private collection of the Conway family, (the UK).

One of the last works of the artist created in a manner close at the same time to the style of art nouveau and late post-impressionism. The artist worked in this technique for ten years. Visually, the picture looks light, soft and warm thanks to the pink and yellow shades of the palette; it is even festive. Nevertheless, sad thoughtfulness is seen on the girls’ faces – the artist achieved this effect thanks to the gaze covered with eyelids and the lowered corners of the characters’ too small lips. The painting was presented to the public in the year of its creation at the prestigious New Burlington Gallery, at the 32nd exhibition of the London group, which the artist was a member of.
