1912
Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The collection of Mattioli (Milan, Italy).
In his art, Luigi Russolo more than other Futurists sought to reflect the main paragraphs of the “Technical manifesto of futurist painting”, proclaimed in 1910. “Fog Hardness” fully complies with the ideology of the art movement expressing both the admiration for the nightlife of the modern city, illuminated by electric lights, and the chaotic movement of people as if lost in heavy fog. The work is very atmospheric; it reliably conveys the mood and feelings of people on the street and the physical sensations of a foggy night. The composition is built with concentric rings that come from two points, and each passer-by has his motion vector, expressed by diverging lines.
