Composition No. 61

author

Alexander Rodchenko

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The Ivanovo Art Museum (Russia).

Briefly about the painting:

In the series of compositions “Color Concentration”, consisting of absolutely round luminous forms, the artist solved the problem of using lines as self-valuable forms in art. He set forth his creative credo in the manifestos “All experiments” and “Line”, in which he considered his painting a huge experiment. Being one of innovators who invented new forms and possibilities, Rodchenko insisted that not only any thing or object, but also their components are self-sufficient as an expressive means and can become the plot of a separate picture.
