1914
Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: the private collection of the artist’s family.
This is one of the paintings dedicated to the artist’s native Zhytomyr region; he created it while visiting his relatives. It has a bright mood transmitted through both the plot with the temple on the high bank and harmonious calm colours. Unlike Parisian landscapes, this one has a high sky and much air. In terms of style, the picture is more likely post-impressionistic, although elements of cubism are also present. The figure of a working woman and architecture are depicted schematically, but without violating the proportions.
