Bust of Man

author

Kurt Seligmann

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: Weinstein Gallery, San Francisco (the USA).

The painting referring to the early period of his work reflects the main feature of Seligmann’s art. He created an almost abstract painting (at that time he became a member of the group “Abstraction-Creation”) using methods of Surrealism. The bust of a man can be seen not only from the name, but also from the general outlines. At the same time, anthropomorphous objects resembling fruits, leaves and seeds of plants surround the dark figure on the pale blue background. Almost the same images show the facial traits of the hero.
