description

Mediums: oil, acrylic, canvas, fabric, wooden chairs.
Location: the Museum of Modern Art, Los Angeles (the USA).

The artist combined several things that seem completely random at first glance. On the right side of the composition, there is a couple in their bedroom, while the left one is occupied by close-ups of paired organs that look like kidneys. The condition of these organs, which are depicted brown, wrinkled and dried out, as well as a pair of chairs without legs, hint at the couple’s complicated relationship, which is also confirmed by the displeased expression on their faces. Drawn with a thin ghostly outline, drawings hovering over the main image can be interpreted as the memories or dreams of people that have become obsolete and no longer have any meaning. The picture causes a disturbing feeling and bewilderment, and its name is more confusing than clarifying the essence of what is happening.
